Di Coffey Memorial Prize for Widening Participation in Poetry

Saturday, 6 March 2021

Di’s interest in poetry began when she attended Moira Andrew’s poetry group in Falmouth, a group sponsored initially by Poetry Space which met in the library. Already an accomplished  non fiction writer, Di took to poetry very quickly and wrote some very moving pieces. With Moira’s encouragement she began sending them out to magazines and online publications. In 2012 Di had her first poem published on this website.

Poetry Space is now pleased to announce the inaugral Di Coffey Memorial Prize for Widening Participation in Poetry. I want this prize to go to an individual, a group or a project that actively promotes poetry within their community on a not for profit basis.

If you would like to nominate an individual or project please write to me at susan@poetryspace.co.uk. You cannot nominate yourself as an individual however if you are benefitting from a project you can nominate the project. You will need to give the following information:

  • Name of individual or project.
  • Description of the work being done.
  • Why you think it should be considered for a prize.

The deadline for nominations has been extended to September 30th.

The winner in 2021 will receive £100.
